What’s So Good About This Place’s Food?
As part of the 2020 What’s So Cool About Jam? I created What’s So Good About This Place’s Food. In this game, you players take on the role of service industry workers getting up to various hijinks while still trying to please their customers and keep their jobs.
The potential situations go beyond teens working a burger joint. One of the potential situations included is working at a blood bank that feeds vampires on the side.
While working on this game I developed my ability to clearly and concisely explain mechanics to players. I also started to learn the basics of graphic design software.
Upon the Stella Sea
I have also created a demo of a Treasure Planet-esque swashbuckling RPG inspired by Sid Meier’s Pirates! called Upon the Stella Sea. My main focus on this project was in-depth world-building that mirrored imperial England in the 1800s and ensuring that the mechanics reflect the story being told and the world it is taking place in.
Creating this began with a 13 Page Games Design Document and then expanded to a wiki for all the main elements of the world such as its magic system, culture, and factions. Both of these documents can be accessed through the buttons below.
The Vinarite Heist
The Vinarite Heist was a writing and level design project I worked on. As the name would suggest it was a heist game where each level was a heist that led to the player recruiting a new team member for the final Vinarite Heist.
This game took place in an urban fantasy setting with a magic system inspired by witchcraft and alchemy. A level plan spreadsheet covering all ten levels in the game can be found below alongside an in-depth design document for The Vinarite Heist’s sixth level.
